we know everyone likes gifts, especially when they come in the form of free *.mp3 audio downloads. the nightmare of every major band and record label.
we have this record. it's called "helio ep", because for an indie alternative rock band we seem to exhibit astonishingly low levels of creativity. nonetheless, we are proud of our work. many of these songs have reached your ears during live performances ("to write love on her arms", "hanging", "celtic song"), yet others lie in wait of your eager and excited mouseclicks. you may direct them here.
now news. little known fact: helio have an official videographer. his name is alex, and he can be found here or here. this man has been graced with the power to capture the beauty of helio rock on his digital camera. such ability cannot remain unnoticed. thanks to alex you may now watch and perform ritualistic sex acts to the videos from our show with quietdrive last november, and most recently from the 2009 csb/sju battle of the bands (!). these videos can be found here.
last (and far, far from least) we have a couple more shows booked for the end of the academic year. acoustic at the local blend in saint joseph, minnesota. eargasmic full-band rock at brother willie's pub at saint john's university. then who knows. we will keep you posted. you may also keep yourself posted here.

*free downloads?
turns out people like music. who knew?
and now for a story. a long, long time ago (and by "a long, long time ago" we mean, of course, "about seven months ago") someone uploaded to youtube one of our most recent songs, "to write love on her arms". as the name would indicate, the song was written for/about/as a tribute to the non-profit organization of the same name (see below for more information). so for months this video, yet unbeknownst to us, sat quietly (as quietly as even the sneakiest of alternative-rock songs can), gained popularity, amassed views, and collected a significant number of comments, messages, and requests for more information about the song, the organization, and even (gasp) the band that sings it!
now for the fairy tale ending. please direct your attention to the reverbnation audio player on the "enter helio-band.com" page (this one). for those of you who have been seeking to download "to write love on her arms", or any of our other songs, you have, up until now, been unable to do so legally. if you somehow obtained it before now thinking you were participating in a legal transaction, you are both mistaken and forgiven (we have very short memories). we have made THREE songs available for download on this player (just click "download", believe it or not). *helio...playing with...quietdrive?!
it appears thus. quietdrive, the great epic records artist partially made up of saint john's university graduates, will be crashing saint john's university and brother willie's pub for a totally rockin' show that will totally blow your socks off your ears.
mark it: 21 november 2008.
brother willie's will witness helio and quietdrive, as well as another supporting act, so do not neglect to apply a plethora of smiley faces/hearts and arrows/semi-obscene sex terminology to that special calendar space.
after all, 21 november only comes around once a year. it's a special date.
